Customizable Hardware and Software Features
1- Customized Microcomputer Firmware
All Roboteq controllers may have their firmware modified to include many customer defined functions. For example:
- Different operating parameters and operating mode than the standard products
- Predefined motion sequences based on I/O stimulus
- Custom ramps or motion patterns.
Thanks to Roboteq controller's field upgrade capability, custom software is typically emailed to the OEM to load and test it in his environment.
2- Customized Coprocessor Hardware and Firmware
All roboteq controllers with Optical Encoder inputs, use a second microcontroller that communicates with the main MCU via a high speed serial link. The firmware on this second MCU may be modified or be fully customized to fit a particular purpose. Using the second MCU is preferred for writing dedicated control functions, while leaving the actual motion control tasks to the main MCU. The custom firmware can be uploaded in the controller in the field.
On the AX2550 and AX1500, the second MCU is located on a piggy back module. Roboteq can create fully custom coprocessor modules with different hardware functions and I/O connectors.
3- Customized Programmable Logic
Roboteq controller include a small Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) that can be used to create some hardware function capable of operating a speeds far greater than the MCU can under software control. Customization examples include:
- Programmable switch pattern for brushless motor
- High speed event counters
- Instant response to events
4- Power Electronics Design
Roboteq's demonstrated expertise in high speed, high current switching may be contracted for the realization of many similar Power Electronics custom designs.
5- Customized or Full Custom Motor Controller
Roboteq will consider creating modified version of its standard product with more or less components, as needed by the OEM application. Likewise, controllers can be relayed out to fit any particular size and footprint requirement.
6- PC Hosted Supervisory or Control Software
Roboteq can develop custom PC software for interfacing to one or many motor controllers. PC+Roboteq systems are very effective combination for creating Automation Systems, or Automated Test Stands.
7- Graphical User Interface (GUI) development
Roboteq's Roborun PC utility may be customized to create an Operator Interface for a specific customer application. For example, the creation of a Remotely Operated Robot's control screen, complete with video feed, controls, and monitoring on the same screen.
8- Internet Communication Software
Roboteq has developed a simple TCP/IP client and server software allowing to remote control and monitor DC motors over wireless LAN and/or the Internet. The roboserver utility can serve as the foundation for a similar client/server application dedicated to a specific purpose or customer.
9- Custom Single Board Computer
Roboteq's expertise in 8-bit (ST7, 68HC05) and 32-bit (ARM) embedded systems, Programmable Logic (FPGA), Robotics Peripherals (MEMS accelerometers & gyroscopes, GPS), board layout, and embedded software development, may be contracted for the realization of full custom Embedded Computers for control and navigation.
